Rattles and Thuds !!
Since I didnt see a Rattles/Squeaks and Thuds Forum, that either means its not much of a issue or we need to start a new forum just for that. So for the time being I guess i gotta post here.
1. What sounds like is coming from the drivers door, lower section. Drive at about 20 mph. Dont have to hit big bumps, holes. Stoned driveways you usually can here it pretty good. Sounds like a thud. Like the door isnt closed all the way but it is.
2. What sounds like is coming from the rear of the truck, Thought at first it was the receiver knocking around a bit when the rear of the truck flexed but I took out the hitch and it still does it. This one is a little hard to pin point as I parked the truck and put the tailgate down and shook the truck up and down and side ways and I didnt hear anything. But when your in the truck and driving you can hear it, Almost want to say it sounds like the fuel sloushing around and hiting the side of the tank, or something to that effect. Once again you dont need to be going very fast to hear it. Its quite noticeable in driveways and parking lots, like when your turning in.
Any Ideas?
Thanks

I have #2 and I think its also in the shackle but not coming from the shackle i think its off slighly putting my leafs off slightly causing them to bind and sorta shift out of the strait leaf stack, ill wd my leafs and it goes away for a while but always comes back.
Also if you push the bed side to side I can make my truck knock also and its the little bit of play in the axles knocking in the that little bit of play for the c clips.
I have a bad vib/hum in my dash sound right behind my gauge cluster, only when the truck is in gear(under load) and only happens at 1200 RPM looking to fix this one for over a year I cant find it I cant push anywhere to make it go away.

I forgot to mention that I had a vib/hum just as you mentioned and it turned out to be the snorkel from the air intake where it snaps into the fender. It came out/loose and caused the same noise and same rpm. It just vibrated against the sheet metal and sounded like it was coming from the dash. If you have a different intake, disregard. Took me a few weeks to figure this out, and while I ****ing around in there, I couldn't believe the leaves that were packed in there. Just something you might want to check out. I really need to upgrade to a new intake, the stock one sucks.

Well havent come up with anything on #2 thought I would concentrate on which one bothered me the most and that would be #1.
So today, took the little lady with me and made her ride in the back. Was on a stone driveway and told her to open the rear door just enough so that it was open but still shut to keep the outside noise to a minimum. But I still heard the thud.
So I jumped in the rear seat while she drove to listen for the sound and you just couldnt here it back there.
Jumped back in the front seat and opened the drivers door the same way, opened, but closed enough to keep the outdoor noise out as much as possible.
After driving around like this for a little bit, i just couldnt hear the Thud, so I wasnt sure if it was because of the extra noise from the outside the truck or I was just missing the noise due to concentrating on not letting the door close and holding it and driving at the same time.
Anyway I got a idea... and took a small towel and wrapped it around the loop (that the door latches to) closest to the inside of the truck. Took several drives around and theres no noise.
Just to make sure this is what is making the thud noise I left the towel in place and will drive around a few days to see if I hear the thud.
But im 95% sure this is area is my problem.

I have also experienced both problems you describe. I was at the dealer last week and he said issue #2 is common and there is no real fix. He said it is worse in some truck than others. I also have issue #1 and they pulled the door panel and put in felt tape and it did not help the issue. I think you have correctly identified it to be the actual door itself. The towel you put in must have made it close tighter and not rattle. Keep us posted on your fix for either problem.
