E-Fan install issues/problems/ HELP !

So i bought a jusnes e-fan kit off a gentleman from another F150 site. I installed the fans exactly as directed, with theexception of the AC wire and the key on power, just because I ran a switch to shut them off myself.

Anyways I switch on the fans with the truck not running, and noticed a little smoke coming from the cluster area. My first thought Was yay ! a fire. well it went away can"t figure out WTF it was.

Now heres the bigger issue, my fuel gauge reads E, and the low fuel warning comes on ALL THE TIME now. and my temp gauge reads funny too and only comes on when I switch the fans on. So does anyone have any idea where i could have messed up? I'm really pissed that for the first time in my life that I'm unsure of my own work, and it's driving me nuts ! So please help if ya can. Thanks !

maybe switching on the fans.. truck off.. shorted something out.. i mean alot of stuff is still connected to the battery... maybe you didnt ground the fans, and the "surge" instead of going to the ground, went into all the other junk.. im trying to be helpful but i really dont understand electricity that well.

i followed the instructions to the T, took me a full day, but i installed my fal270 kit with no problems.. but i have no idea what i did technically

You need to go back and start over with the install (electrical wise) Without knowing where you got your power for the switch and what wires you disturbed who knows. sometimes it is harder to admit to redo, because you dont want to waste time, but trying to troubleshoot may take more time than starting over. I have learned that after 38 years of troubleshooting electrical/mechanical things.

you just hit the nail on the head.

with something as important as this, you don't want to screw it up, and down the road, let it lead to something bigger. check all your wires, and make sure the wires are labeled correctly. i think i heard of another person with problems with the jusnes kit, and melting something. you may also be better off wiring it up correctly, without a switch so you eliminate 'user error'

good luck

This is a very BAD thing. You obviously damaged an SSD (solid state device). More than likely, this is NOT a fixable condition, short of replacing the board which has the faulty component.

Your best bet is to return everything to stock to verify if the problem is still present.

Thank you everyone ! I have no choice but to go back and redo the work. I don't mind it and think it's the best idea. I'm not an electrical genius, but I should be able to do a simple e-fan install ( crap i build full tube chassis, and air ride).

RMS8 - I think you may be correct on this one. I'm gonna have to take it to work and see if I can go though it wth the MCS1. at least I can idea of where it's messed up.

Thanks again !

I built my own setup for the front cause I had Air Ride Technologies stuff up there but kept breaking their ****. I also have thier airbar setup out back but I'm about to do my own 4 link, again thier bushings on the bars are junk and I keep tearing them up.

I put my suspension through a lot of abuse, I got the kit cheap from bagging another F150. I just had some of the stuff swapped out from ART.

Yeah those were pics from that show. Ranger updates. I hoping by the end of this year to be done with it. As you can see the F150 has been taking some attention away from it though. put up some pics of the taco.

I was thinking of getting the ART rear 4 bar for my truck but you say it has bad bushings? What do you think is causing them to go out? Could it be modified to run a heim joint? Any help would be great because I am pushing a lot of HP/TQ to the rear.

Do you have any pics of your own front set up. I was going to run the shockwaves but you are about the 4th person I have heard of that had problems with them.

I just think the inserts and urathanes are junk, who knows why. I run 200 psi to the bags with 1/2 5/8 orfice valves. maybe thats why. I just got some heims and bars in to do the uppers, now just to do the lowers. here a link to my myspace of the lower bracket. feel fre to check out the rest of my whacked out stuff too.
