about to drop a 04 4x4crew need help asap!!
oki i am about to purchase a djm complete 4x4 lowering kit for my 04 ford f150. it mentions on the website that the rear will have problems with rubbing on factory height tires. i believe something about the factory lifting blocks so im wondering if i can remove these or if i will be alright with them. im currently in wyo and my wheels are back home in texas but i would like to install my lowering kit as soon as i get it so if you guys could help me out i'd really appreciate it!
I lowered my FX4 a couple of weeks ago, here's the thread

hey did you just remove your lifting blocks? you didnt need any extra parts? you got any advice before i do this? lol
and please i'm not here to start an arguement i was just simply asking for advice. i would've bought a 2wd if i could've but this is also my work truck and i was in wyoming and 4x4 is a must for the snow. i've done alot of work to my truck and im not getting rid of it. when i go back to texas i'll have no use for the 4x4 and it'll have my 24's bac on it so definately no off-roading.

You need to buy the 2wd u-bolts, they are shorter and will fit after you remove the rear blocks. Do not buy the heavy duty ones, they are for trucks with the heavy duty payload package and are a larger diameter.

Install is easy, just unbolt u-bolts, lift truck off rear axle, pull out blocks, lower truck back down on axle, use 2wd u-bolts and bolt axle back up, done.

Theres always someone who has to say something ignorant when people talk about lowering a 4x4 isnt there haha. I don't see why people are so against it. Once lowered the truck looks good, specially if you add aftermarket wheels and then if it snows or road conditions call for it, whoever is driving the truck has 4x4. Doesn't seem like that weird of an idea to me.
I would check out the Roush Suspension kit if your looking at doing a bigger drop. It keeps a nice stance and they make a 4x4 kit.
Best of luck to you

To start with.....I asked a question....I did not make a statement.
Second, I live in the North, and have NEVER seen someone drop a 4x4 truck....NEVER. So I think it was a very fair question. I did not say it was stupid or a bad idea....just couldnt understand why the hell you would do it.
So I cant ask questions?? I know I am not the only one who was thinking that!! Sorry if I offended you....its not what I meant to do. I think you guys are a bit touchy.
Come on.....If I post that I just bought a Mustang GT and was planning on putting a 8 in lift on it........I would get a few comments. To me....dropping a 4x4 truck is the same thing.
Your truck is very nice...sorry for stating my opinion. Lift it...drop it....at least its a FORD.

.................Thats definatly your opinoin....and you are entilted to it.
But I, and most others, belive a 4x4 should be stock height or higher......NOT lower......and that is MY opinion.....and I am entilted to it.

Well not to get in the middle of this whole ordeal but i agree you could have asked him about lowering a 4x4 in a more um nice way maybe haha? Kinda seemed a little obnoxious the way you asked.
Anyways like 05RedFX4 said just get the 2wd u-bolts then jack up the back pull out the blocks put it back down and replace the 4wd u-bolts with the 2wd ones.

No man! No one is offended i was just saying too! like i said i can understand why you would see something wrong with a dropped 4x4 but i had no choice i had to buy one. im not gonna lift it because i think its too expensive. plus i've always been a fan of lowered cars and i think every car i've had i've dropped except for a suzuki samurai i had as a teen i had 8 inches of lift on it. and i thought your comment was funny actually but i really needed advice at the time and from the forums i've been in once someone starts then everyone starts with BS comments and i really didnt want that!! i hope you understand!
I should have choosen my words a little wiser....
I have learned a great deal from the guys on this site and didnt mean any harm! ......Always been a problem for me...I speak without thinking first.

Daybreak you dont need to justfy to anyone about what you said. Things are taken out of context all the time its just how people decide to take what is said. He's gonna lower his truck anyway. Dont worry
Post up some pics when the truck is done
