Somebody may have posted information eluding to this already, but I don't have time to read all the posts.

I was at my local Harley shop last week and inquired about their flat black and flat olive colored Sporties.

Apparently they do a two-stage job on them. The clear they use is a special formula used to give a "flat" look, when all actuality, it's still cleared. They even had metallic flakes in the olive. It was gorgeous.

One of these days I may do my project car like that. Having clear still offers good protection and allows the use of wax.

Go for it

I would wait till AFTER college to get the truck painted. You will have just as many, if not more, people sliding thier backpacks down the side of it, door dings up the ****, and anything else you can think of; and within a year that new paint job that you spend all your money on will look like chit.

This is all unless you plan to have your own place and walk to school or something, not using the schools parking lot...

After watching Rob and Big this year I wanted to do the same to my 150! That tahoe is badass, but I'm not prepared to go "all the way" like he did. I'd love to have a new Mercedes C class in that satin black though...

Don't think I have seen a flat black 04+, but from those pictures I don't think it would look half bad.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, I never even thought about the dings and scratches I'd get in college. I still need to buy some rims so maybe I'd go for the Monster's first then see what I have in store for the future paint job. I feel pretty confident in the paint holding up as I didnt even know about the techniques they use for such a thing.
