Sear's+UPS+60lb Battery=TROUBLE!!!

Well my new Sears Platnium battery for my truck came in today. I bought a new battery becuase my stocker was 4 years old and I am installing a new alarm system so I thought it would be a good idea. I ordered a Sears battery offline because the nearest Sears store with an automtoive dept is an hour away. The battery arrived in a box that was huge!!!. The battery was upside down when opened, the posts were bent at a slant, and the box was destroyed. I went ahead and tried to install it, so I cut some of the plastic off the top lid for clearance of the terminals and found that the entire inner plastic structure of the battery was cracked. For a $190.00 battery I would expect a little more. Now I have to go meet with UPS to see who messed up the box and the battery. It may of worked just fine, but I am super picky when it comes to my money and my truck. Pictures Below!!!

Now after all of this I am done with the Diehard's reguardless who's fault it was. Optima was my next choice. Should I go with the red top or yellow top? I can get it locally. I mostly drive short trips(15-30 min), have aftermarket reverse lamps, double din HU, and upgraded speakers, edge tuner, trailer brakes, etc... This is about all the major electrical things I have to run in my truck. Which battery do you think would fit me bes. If you need more info just let me know.

Thanks for listening,

I vote yellow, I played my audiophile w/sub for about 4-7 hours while working on the ski's at the lake, all at full volume.

I just shipped out a 70lb battery today, packed a little better than that was most likely.

Sears should refund you asap, you shouldn't have to deal with UPS except for them coming to pick up the stuff they broke.

With what you have I'd think the redtop would do you fine.

Ive done enough business with UPS to know what I see there. UPS damaged (dropped) the original box, and threw the merchandise in the nearest box on hand. They dont ever bother to include all pieces, or pack them good. They know you will be making a claim. Dont waste your time calling UPS, call Sears. They will send out a replacment and schedule with UPS to pick up the damaged goods. This one is on UPS.

Yellow top! Reds suck cause if it ever goes dead it's a useless paper weight.

I called Sears, and they are the ones getting in contact with UPS. I have to now wait 8-10 days until my meeting with UPS, and then wait until they receive it back at their warehouse before I am refunded. I need to get another batttery before April 29, so it looks like I will have two batteries to pay for this month on the card. I hope they don't take too long with the refund. They did offer me free shipping and 10% off of a new battery. They would almost have to just give me a free battery now to keep my business.

I wish they would of just sent out a new battery and a call tag for the defective one. Problem Solve, but I guess UPS is going to get pinned for the battery.

Also, jrb03 how do you like your alarm? That is the exact one I am installing. Also any other details you think I should know about it. (tips or tricks)

WOW, that sucks

I just got my towing mirrors today from UPS,(2, 35 pound boxes) they came from Rhode Island and I'm in Minnesota, they were packaged really well and double boxed...the boxes were not damaged at all....I have used UPS at least a 100 times and never had any trouble at all.

Hope you get your money back

Good luck!

It's almost a hit and miss with UPS. Small stuff comes good. It's the heavy stuff. My train horns were messed up good when I got a hold of them. Hope you get it resolved soon.

Consider yourself very lucky!

My former employer (vector aerospace) refused to use UPS because of all the issues with lost/late/damaged packages.

I myself have had a number of issues with UPS and now prefer to use fed ex whenever available.

I've had hits and misses with UPS too.

A friend sent me a box that weighed about 75 lbs, and when I got received it, that package looked like they dragged it behind their semi.

Sorry to hear of your troubles! That sucks! How good was the packaging? I hope that UPS & Sears don't get into a pissing match about the packaging therefore delaying your new battery. Anyway, I hope it gets resolved soon!

From what I see in his pics, and the mention of the battery being upside down, I can almost gurantee that was not the original packaging. I have had 2 instances where my products arrived like that. Both times UPS damaged the originals so bad they just dumped what they could salvage in a generic box, and sent it on. Make sure you put it back exactly as you received it. Sorry to hear Sears is giving you hassel. Both retailers I dealt with were great and shipped replacments immediatly, and dealt with UPS. I would probably look elsewhere too.

The Code Alarm srt-9000 is great. I installed it myself. Took a Saturday, but I was being very careful and taking my time. I got the package from autoalarmpro.com, included all necessary installation materials and VERY detailed instructions specific to the F150, including wire color and location. Let me know if you have any more questions about it, I really enjoy it. Range is great for the 2 way pager. My only gripe with it is the vehicle used in the animations on the remote, its a white suburban.
