5.4 to 4.6

If you went from an 04 5.4 to an 05 4.6, how much power loss would you notice?

Honestly, not much. You would lose tq. holding power for certain grades and top end acceleration. If you went from a screw 5.4 to a scab 4.6, the difference would be marginal. But if you went from a rcab 5.4 to a screw 4.6 you would **** in your pants.

If you made the move to the 4.6, the first thing you would grow tired of is being "bit*h slapped" at every stoplight by a 47-year-old woman in a Caravan.....

Go drive one, you will be suprised at the power difference. One of my friends has a 05 rcab 4.6, and my 5.4 when both were stock my truck felt much stronger, and when we lined them up it was a big difference. With a tuner and exhaust on both the differences were even worse, if you don't need or want the extra power however, the 4.6 is a great motor and very reliable.

After a couple of 4.6L SCabs under my belt, I went to the 5.4L and will never go back to the 4.6L. The difference in power was quite noticeable. I'd have to almost floor a 4.6L to get me through the Snowy Range Pass. The 5.4L in a heavier SCrew has no problem jogging up the pass, even with 400 pounds of gear in the bed. I maybe got 1 MPG more with the 4.6L. Not enough to justify ever going back.

The 4.6 doesn't feel to bad when you test drive one off the lot and around town. Buy it and break it in and the first long trip you take with a headwind you'll be cussing all of the way.

If you have a 5.4 now you will regret the 4.6.

Not sure if Snowy Range Pass is on i-80 or not, but a ways west of cheyenne on i-80 there were definately some spots my 4.6 scab was down in the gears and up in the rpms to pull through. To be fair I was doing 85 to 90 over the pass though.

I went from the 4.6 to the 5.4 and I have to say the power difference is crazy. The 4.6 was useless on the highway and **** around town at the stop lights. The fuel milege was about 4-5 mpg difference for the worst in the 4.6...I'd stick with the 5.4 because u know u have the power now and u dont wanna be in want each time u drive!
