Question for those with procomp 6 inch lift
Question for those with procomp 6 inch lift
I am considering getting a procomp lift and have noticed some lifts require the front axle shaft to be notched and rebalanced. Do you have to do this with the procomp lift also. Also, I can drive at city speeds now in 4wd when its wet, will I still be able to do this after lift?
Thanks for any replies.

My lift didn't require me to modify the drive shafts in any manner.
As for 4-hi operation at speed: Yes, you can still run in 4-hi. I have shifted into 4-hi at 45mph just to make sure it worked properly, and ran it up to 50mph in 4- hi with no problems or vibrations. Snow is about the only time I will use 4-hi at decent speeds, but that is rare.

Might depend on the truck possibly - my driveshaft needed to be clocked and re-balanced. After I installed my lift, I went to Colorado to go skiing - just snowed and when in 4x4 high there was a bad vibration at 50+ mph. When I got back home I had the driveshaft clocked and rebalanced at a driveline shop for $65 and now it is perfect. I can go 50-60 mph and no more vibration. So try it out first - if it vibrates - get the shaft modified. Don't need to lengthen it - just put it back 'in-phase' and balanced. The specific directions can be found on the Fabtech's website in the lift instructions.
