Not to sound rude, but is it all about what you can steal from Ford? Call it public relations??? What if the Dealer can conspire to rip Ford off as well by rolling back the miles?

You guys should hear what you sound like! If Ford does it knowing it is out of warranty that is one thing. Thats called doing you a favor as a previous customer.

Man up and pay for it if it is out of warranty. If you know it is out of Warranty, call Ford and see if they might do this for you. But don't conspire to rip Ford off. Do what right! Do you guys collect Social Security checks on the side also? Maybe using dead peoples Social Security Numbers? Same difference!!

It's not BS, it's called "after warranty adjustments/assistance," and they're available at the discretion of the dealer. A customer can have up to two AWAs done after the base bumper to bumper warranty expires, and they're usually reserved for big money repairs, like engine or transmission stuff, although they can be used on just about anything. Sometimes they'll cover the entire bill, sometimes they'll go 50/50 with the dealer and/or Ford covering half and the customer covering the other half, or anywhere in between.

AWAs are normally granted to "loyal" customers...if you bought the vehicle from the dealer in question, had your regular maintenance done there, bought a few vehicles from them in the past, etc. Dealers lose money on AWA claims, so they won't be in a big hurry to offer them indiscriminately - they're used more as a sign of good faith, in hopes that you'll continue to do business with us/them.

Times indeed are tight in the car business, and Ford makes up the difference by stiffing their dealers whenever and however they can. Ford will reimburse the dealer "X" number of dollars for an AWA claim, but it usually ain't enough to break even for the dealer.

This sounds like something I'd normally say.

But if the OP's dealer is in a good mood and has a good relationship with him, they could help him out with the bill on his repairs. Maybe cover the whole thing, maybe go 50/50, I dunno.

Wow, knowing that I am very impressed the dealerships ever offer this. With all the bad comments you hear regarding dealers its nice to see some will lose a buck or two (or hundred, thousand?) for a loyal customer

Whoa ! Chill....I'm not conspiring to do anything and I don't get SS checks on the side. I was just asking for suggestions. I'm all ready to "man up" as you say to pay the bill. But I'll bet there ain't no one on this list that wouldn't ask the same question for a repair like this this soon after the warranty expiration!!!

Sure, but this time won't be one of them.

Learn how to read.

The exact post you quoted was a prime example of making a point without insulting anyone. Feel free to show me where I made an insult in that post- oh, and me stating that he doesn't know anything about that situation is not an insult, it's a fact. Nice try though

Oh, and you can also refer to the post JUST prior to that when I first tried to help someone before someone with no clue what he was talking about decided to call BS on someone he doesn't know. Maybe you should write your senator about him too and demand that he find a more gentle way to suggest that I may be wrong?

Ahem. I rest my case....

Thanks for playing!

And I said that asking Ford to do that is normal. But read the posts again and you will find that many where working with the dealerships to "roll back" the mileage so it was still under warranty. Someone even said they "had" done that already. I am just trying to be over dramatic to drive home the point of what "some" of you guys are talking about. It's called fraud.

If Ford is willing to do this knowing that it is past warranty, of course thats ok. You know thats not what I'm talking about.

I guess I have my answer then. That would be no, you cannot make a point without being insulting or demeaning. You must have a very nice view up there from your pedestal.

Oh how cute! The two Debbie Downers of the board joined forces. Maybe you can move in together and have a domestic partnership?

And yes, I enjoy the view from up here...it's nice being right...tell me, how was it getting totally owned in this thread- twice?
