Some free mods done this weekend...

Several months ago 05RedFX4 had told he he'd be getting leather seat covers and I could have his old black ones. This was because I had been complaining that the previous owner had stained the back seats and there was a hole in the passenger seat that wasn't too big. I want to get some leather or neoprene seat covers in the future, but with my finances and the big move coming up I am not in a position to pay for some at the time being. Free...that I can do.

For starters, the back seats have been a concern in the back of my head. You think back seat and stains and all sorts of nasty connotations come to mind about what happened back there to induce said stains. Not to fear, my worries were assuaged this weekend when I tore everything apart and found this...

Ahh, cheerios. Definately points to the previous owner toting his munchkin around in the back rather than performing illicit acts. Now it all makes sense.

So, armed with some tips from 05RedFX4 and his install thread I charged into it this weekend. Here's the finished product. The center jumpseat will be coming out for some type of console in the very near future so I'm not worried about it not matching. 05RedFX4 has the flow through console so that's why I don't have those covers.

For starters, I was thinking the seats would look bad with the gray interior, but I don't mind it so much and they do look kind of good together I think. When I shell out for some decent covers I'll probably shell out for some new seat belts too as those kind of stand out really bad. I need to replace the drivers side one anyway since it doesn't retract fully on it's own.

Some folks have apparently commented that the seats on the 07 models feel like the foam got some bolstering. I'm here to confirm that. My gray seat covers fit nice and snug, however the new covers not so much. The side parts that kind of wrap around you, there's definitely not enough foam to fill it up. You can't tell by looking at it but when you push on it you can feel the gap.

Anyway, I like the new look and can't wait to put in some yellow and black covers in there in the future.

I decided to go for another quick cheap mod this weekend. Stripped off the STX sticker from the rear. Spent some quality time giving her a post-winter cleaning, so here she is in all her glory.

Seats look great. That's a perfect example of why nobody eats in the truck.

Thanks, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. It was a minor PIA mod and definitley time consuming. That said, I certainly have the confidence to install some aftermarket ones when I get around to ordering them. I'd always wondered how tough of a job it would be and should I get them installed at a professional location. I've found that most things I can do myself with a little bit of instruction. With this the most difficult thing to figure out was the technique for removing the stupid back seat. After that it was all elbow grease.

Aside from questioning this typo:

Oh it's beconing me. It's going to be a custom one off though...I've got some of the materials I need...just need to get my relocation done first, then I can think about getting these things done.
