Gas mileage???

I have a 2004 with the 5.4 liter motor and 35X12.50 pro comp extreme all-terrains on 18" OEM wheels. Anybody else have this set up and can tell me how their gas mileage is??? Mine sucks right now, I'm gettin about 225 miles per tank, so I guess im just asking if there is anything else i can do to my truck to help out with gas mileage a little bit, and oh yea i already have the k&n cold air intake on the truck also. Any help would be nice, thanks.

To a great extent, asking what you need to do to get good mileage with these trucks is akin to someone asking what they need to do to their Accord so they can pull a 24' travel trailer.......

Best answer -- if gas mileage is your "bugaboo" you need to be driving something else.

Sure... if one is fixated on fuel economy there are better ways to go than an F-150. But most of us love these trucks and simply want to get the best fuel economy we can for most of our driving needs.

I don't do much city driving so I think I do pretty well. I only have about 1/3 of my daily drive on city roads. The other 2/3 are highway speeds which around here is 55.

I get right at 16 mpg mostly. If I go on a longer highway trip I can get it up to 18. The best I ever had for a tank's worth of driving was a hair below 19.

2004 f-150 scab 5.4, last tank was 9.8 mpg But if I get it on the highway, I can easily get 17-18 mpg, at least when temps are above 60F

Well I can't complain, believe it or not I get around 15-16 mpg at highway speeds of 70-80

In city i'll get between 9-10 possibly 11

Oh, and I'm on 38" tires, I think that's damn good mileage for a lifted truck.

But then again, I didn't buy a truck for gas mileage.

The best fuel saving device is attached to the end of your right leg. You just have to learn how to use it for fuel savings rather than fun.

No fun here, I drive like the ole man I am. Still getting less than 10 mpg. But have to admit, It's all in town the past few months. I'm not concerned because I know when summer comes and I get it on a few long road trips, heat up the exhaust and good fuel I'll get 17-18 mpg.
