silly question

One thing I have never understood is why does Ford not add items like electric fans and selectable tunes from the factory? Everything I read on this forum makes these sound like no brainers so what is the down side? I would think that Ford (or dodge or chev) would do this just to get a leg up on the other guys?

Ford does not do this because the majority of truck owners need the reliabilty. Not that our trucks are not reliable with tunes and e fans. It's just not practical. That's why they have trucks like the Lightning (or at least they used to)

Anyway, the build them the way they do for practicality and reliability.

hit the nail on the head. these are trucks foremost, and "sport" vehicles second. Ford will continue with the tried and true method as it is generally cheaper and has less chance of breakage
