Hauled Some Glass

I've got like 7 pieces of 1/4" and 7 pieces of 1/2" HardiBacker Cement board, 6 bags of glass block cement, 10 boxes of 8x8x4 Pittsburg Corning Glass Blocks, about 4 boxes of random glass blocks, and some other random junk. Along with my 800 lbs of tools.

All hauled great.

I dropped a piece of that hardibacker on my toe at the Home Depot. That stuff is heavy. I wanted to lay down in the aisle holding my toe and cry like a baby. I did sit on a stack of sheet rock and rest for a while.

That Hardibacker stuff is wicked heavy... I was surprised. But they have a demo at our store, where it has been soaking in water for like a year. It's some pretty amazing stuff.

That load of Hardi had to have been about 800 lbs alone... and those glass blocks are no lightweights either. I think each case weighs something like 75 lbs each. I had to have at least 2200# in the bed alone... excluding the tools.

hardi is for suckers. this is the only stuff i use from now on:

For floors:

For wet areas:

you can carry 100sqft on your shoulder without breaking a sweat, it's laterally stable under tile and it installs easier than CBU.

I'm making a glass shower stall.

The back is going to be tiled, and we are going to have a custom made cement-laid base.

It's going to be some big $$ going into this project.

Actual hardibacker is really light, only like 35lbs per 1/2" peice. The 1/4" is something like 29lbs per piece. I hauled a whole pallet (60 pieces I beleive) of 1/4" hardibacker for a buddy and that was less than 2000lbs.
