Lariat/FX4?

I bought a used 04 Lariat back in Nov. and it had FX4 stickers on the rear. It says Lariat on the dash and on the front badges, but it seems to me that all the other Lariats and XLT's that I see have 4X4 stickers and the FX4 has FX4.Why would this one have these stickers? Just wondering, I had them removed shortly after buying because they were red and the truck is Arizona beige metallic, they were kinda ugly.

I have no doubts that it is a Lariat, the interior/gauges are definatly that model. I guess my question should have been to any other Lariat owners is, what sticker do you have on your truck, 4X4 or FX4?

Is your 2004 a new body style or old body style? FX4 used to be just an addon package, so in the 2004- years you could have a Lariat FX4, but that's not the case with 2004+. With the new body style FX4 is a trim level, like xlt, stx, lariat, etc.

it would have 4x4. fx4's and stx's are the only trucks that have something else besides 4x4 on the bedside.

So... now I'm do you think to previous owner changed the stickers? why would anybody do that? What makes a FX4 different than A Lariat/XLT, is it somethig to do with the suspension package?

I could have been an FX4, but with a Lariat cluster? Can't the VIN say what it is?

Ive seen quite a few people put FX4 stickers on other models. I guess its b/c they are a little flashier than plain ol 4X4 theres lots of differences but try searching to get all of them.
I vote to take it off ASAP..nobody likes a poser

Done , I had them removed shortly after buying because the truck had a scratch right below that the dealer fixed,I asked them to remove the other instead of replacing the fixed side. No posing here

My buddy has a FX4 and it definitely rides/handles differently than my Lariat. So I would say, yes, different suspension package. Also, FX4's have skid plates on them, Lariat's don't.

the shocks are different...(they have different part #'s for those who don't agree)

you can the skid plates on other models also, but it's at extra $$$, not standard

sounds like the previous owner was just trying to make the truck more "rugged" with a FX4 sticker
