Mine had this problem at 22k miles. Blew the cat and had to replace one injector. Just goes along with the spark plugs and lousy limited slip in the rear end. Love the truck, but the parts are **** poor.

Yea and right now my 05 is in getting a new injector, 2 weeks ago I got the engine light with a rough idle at start up shut her down and started her back up and the roughness was gone but a smell of gas, the next day the engine light went away, drove for 10 days and it happened again this time I took it in and sure enough bad injector
I think I will ask if they also changed the plugs after reading on this forum

Thanks for all the great info.

I don't mean this to come across as a diss on the 5.4 but it sure does seem to have alot of problems. I have the 4.6 and when I bought it initially I felt like I should have gone for the 5.4 but I am glad I didn't. I am sure the 4.6 has its own share of issues but not as many.

Hi, it's a good forum you have. This thread got my attention whilst trawling the forums. I didn't know this stuff happened. I know of a failed engine but not the cause. Does anybody know if the damaged piston has any unusual markings on the crown and does this fault apply to just one injector type or any of the ford injectors? Thanks.

There is actually a recall (yea rite) letter stating that Ford has extended the warranty on 2005 year injectors to something like 11years because of known defective injectors.

they wont recall the injector, but warrant them....
