Unhappy My baby...

There's a real bad off-ramp to a city street, from a city street near my work. Gotta turn your head about 120* from front to see oncoming traffic.

Lady in front of me stops about halfway off the ramp. I stop as well, but there's a big column blocking my view. She guns it to get out before the car that isn't even there hits her (yeah, there weren't any cars.) I slowly edge up so I can see past the column. No cars coming, give it a little gas. Look forward, she slams her brakes. (Left about a 15' long section of rubber with it.) What the heck....

Guess what happens?

She was an un-insured, un-licensed illegal. I'm thinking, oh crap. Call the cops. Wait an hour. Call back. Apparently an officer came by 12 minutes after I made the call. Guess he was invisible. They send another. He gets there after waiting for an hour and a half from initial call.

Of course, I'm at fault. But wait... She's an illegal with no license or insurance? Neither of us gets a ticket. Works out well for me because I can't have any more moving violations. Cop writes down our info, gives us the other's info, (since I don't speak Spanish and she couldn't understand that I wanted her info.)

Her Expy is pretty messed up. My truck not so bad. Grille guard saved it. Busted up the mounting brackets though, and will leave big creases in the bumper. The pass. side of my hood doesn't fit quite right either. I'm hoping the bumper is just pressed up pushing the hood up a bit. The lights got scratched pretty bad at the top from the guard mounts. It's sitting about 1/4" from the grille, so it should be fine.

Called my insurance guy when it happened. He said no biggie, we'll get it taken care of. We'll see when I process the claim tomorrow.

Hoping boon-docks might be in the works.

Definitely impressed with the guard.

First thing I thought of when I hit her was, "Oh crap, my guard just went through my grille. Bet I'll need a tow."

If I don't end up with a boon dock's I may try and save it and get some new mounting brackets from Manik.

thats why we put "cow killers" on trucks...it keeps the damage to manageable amounts

good luck with the repairs

That's TX for you. Illegals out-number the hard working tax-payers here.

That crap doesn't happen in Oklahoma anymore. We have the toughest laws on illegals here. IF you're illegal, you get arrested and deported... period.

States like Texas should seek much tougher laws.

We don't want them here in Oklahoma.

GTFO!

I hear stuff like this and it make imagration a bigger and bigger issue for me. I dont mind doing what it takes to stay legal, but when someone is caught not doing anything they should be and get let go.......dont get me started.

Not a darn thing I can do about it. I guess it doesn't help that the cop was Hispanic.

i agree with harder laws for illegals here in texas, but dont u people think it should be easier for hispanics to be a american?? SOME illegals come to work, and others dont diserve to be here. everyone needs at least one chance, but then again how would we ever know whos here to work and whos here for food stamps... i personally dont want illegals runing around my front lawn ether..

I am cool with Mexicans. Some of my best friends are Tejano Mexicans have helped make Texas the great state that it is. I even love the day worker hanging out at 7-11... I just wish we could control the flow, and stop the 600 billion that the United States spend on illegals yearly.
