Purchased brand new F150 3wks ago..today "check engine light" on, WTF!!!

So yeah i bought this 07 F150 STX 4x4 with 70 miles on it from a local dealership. About a week after having it, the damn check engine light comes on! I took it to autozone to get it diagnosed before i went to the dealership and they told me the code was a faulty or loose fuel cap. Ok, they reset it and i went on my way. This week the check engine light is back on.... I took it in to the dealership and they're tellin me its a faulty fuel filter or something. Should i start looking into the Texas Lemon Law because im not goin to pay on a brand new truck to be in the shop every gd week? What do yall think?

I think you are not so lucky. Probably something easy to fix. Did they replace the cap?

The check engine light can come on for the most minor of things and it is almost never for anything major. It is mandated by the government to keep the emissions i check. I had Autozone check my car a couple of years ago and they also told me it was the gas cap. I bought a gas cap after they turned the light off for me and it came back on after a few days. I actually had a vacuum lead at the cannister. Their equipment is apparently very basic and it has the possibility of finding the problem.

thats funny recon cuz i actually thought about it!!! Just got it back like 20 mins ago. It was a small leak somewhere that was causing a pressure difference that triggered the light to go off. I raised hell and got it all done the same day plus a free f150 rental. It just pissed me off that i had to go back already for a maintenance issue. I had my Nissan Frontier for 8yrs and never once did that light come on and i never had a problem with it. I really hope that all my friends telling me that FORD means Found On Road Dead or Fix Or Repair Daily are actually right. Maybe im not as Lucky as i thought. Thanks for the replies guys

Did the dealer try to screw you on the Ford Escape deal?! I bet they tried doing a switcheroo on you...

I'm sorry, but it... it's soooo damn funny at the end when the guy is just waiting to be arrested.
