Love my F150...Rented a Yukon Xl

I had to rent a car the other day while out of town on business. Hertz stuck me with a loaded GMC Yukon XL. Yes, it was loaded, even had DVD. Just thought I would post my thoughts.

Engine: I would say that the engine power is much better than my F150 when it was stock. Have to say that with an Xcal3, my truck is a little quicker. No hard numbers, just an impression that I got.

Interior: I have a KR, so my Ford wins hands down. For those that do not have the KR, I still think Ford has a better seat. I really like the wrap around feature.

Handling: Ford wins. Felt like my truck tracked better. The Yukon felt like it roadwalked. I may have thought this because I have 20's.

Nice qualities about the GMC: Awsome as a rental...

What I hated about the GMC: The dash was busy. It just seemed to have a lot going on. I like it that my truck seems more minimalist? Now that I have the shifter on the floor, I hate the column shifter. (Sorry to offend Ford owners that have it on the column) I found it weird that it was a column shifter and that it was not flow through. Not sure why it had no cup holders, but I was pissed off that there was not a place to keep me from spilling my spit cup. This alone is a deal breaker for me
Maybe I would have liked Cadillacs version of the Suburban better...But I think the Linclon would be a better alternative. Also, no keyless entry pad. What the hell GM? Keypads rule...I love mine.

Would I buy one for my wife? NO, she loves her 03 expy... She originally wanted a Tahoe. When I showed her the options that come with an Eddie Bauer, she figured that she got more bang for a buck. The base Tahoe was the same price as the EB.

Anywho, no one may care that I wrote this biased review...Did it mainly because I was bored.

Yeah, I agree.

In July of last summer, I flew home to visit relatives...and there is always a "project" that needs help. It was a patio with pavers (not the big ones, like 16X16, but the 4X8 bricks). I got roped into helping out by going to get a couple of loads of sand with my cousin's GMC Sierra. The thing was loaded, but I did not like the seats or the dash. Like you said, it was very busy. I liked the power by the seat of my pants, but it did not handle very well. He claimed it was the crappy tires, but I don't know. I also have the flow through on my FX4, and the column just seemed weird. I guess it was the numerous times that I tried to shift without realizing that the column was where I needed to go. Anyway, overall, I would say that the Sierra did well with the loads, about 1800lbs each. I also seemed to track back and forth on the road loaded, but never seemed underpowered hauling. The brakes, I suspect, needed changed with all of the squealing. I guess that we tend to like what we already have, but with something that you bought...you better like it.

IIRC, that is the 6.0 in the YukonXL

Am i missing something here????

You're comparing a truck to a full size SUV???

Not exactly apples to apples here is it?

That's like comparing a Ford Explorer Sport-trac to a Blazer.

Kinda pointless, IMHO......

Would it make it any better to compare it to the Expedition?

I mean after all, the Yukon is based on the Silverado platform and the Expedition is based on the F-150 platform.

Thank you! I drove a Yukon XL, which is basically a suburban, which sits on a Silverado chasis. Its not driving a Silverado truck, but it feels like one with a camper and extra seating.

So, go put a camper and extra seats in your F150, and tell us how it feels compared to the Yukon XL.

F150 to a Yukon XL isn't even close to comparing apples to apples, it's comparing apples to monkeys.

Your "review" gave us your opinion of how the Yukon XL felt vs. your truck.

Your a bright one, just repeat what he said and you think your making him look dumb.

If you have nothing productive to say you should keep your mouth shut.

Sometimes its like high school around here.

P.S. I drove a Yukon XL for a few months, and I liked it.

Many people look into 4 door trucks and SUV's when looking for a small family hauler. My Dad looked into both the 4 Runner and 4 door Tacoma, my friend recently looked into a Dodge 4door and a Tahoe. Although they may not be in the same class people who have active lifestyles or need to tow find themselves looking at these 2 types of vehicles at time of purchase.

Well since this thread already went wack ill add my opinion lol, My dad just bought a 2008 Expedition Limited Loaded which we traded our 04 Escalade in for and all I have to say is Ford drives and looks way better the only thing it lacks is the new Caddilac 6.2 403hp motor.. Need to get him a intake n a sct xcal3 and he should be good (the six speed tranny is very nice)

I'm actually in kind of a decent mood today and then this STUPIDITY comes up.

This is my absolute ONLY cease and desist. One chirp of anything else that resembles stupidity in this thread will be met with the moderator doing some moderating.
