Omg I Need Traction!
Omg I Need Traction!
Ok so I need traction, im ordering some AA tred tires that fit on my truck for sure. However I need traction bars (if they make them) and anything else. I almost got beat by a 300C from a dead stop due to my stupidness and flooring it from a stand still. He was 2 cars ahead of me before I hooked up, then my trans had to down shift into first again because it was spinning the tires and went into 2nd. So then after a while I catch up to him, and pass him at a stupid speed.
I need any help you guys can offer to hook up the tires. It was embarassing to say the least.

I'm goign to guess it was a V-6 300.
A 300c with the Hemi would eat an F150 alive unless it has some serious mods.
Woth that said, work on your launches... consistancy is the key. Tires make a difference, but driving skill makes even more.

What is an AA tred tire?I would go with the mickey thompson drag radial if you need that serious of traction. But beware you will get some nasty axle wrap with those unless you get some traction bars on there..
And by the way I never have problems with traction either except in the snow.

Ok so heres the story. I was turning right onto a two lane road, while a 300C v6 was turning left coming the opposite way and went into the far left lane. When I turned I turned into the left lane (which I suppose I should have went into the right lane). Anyway, I saw he was turning so I gave it enough gas that I would be ahead of him (being I turned first) and that he wouldnt have to hit the breaks and so my turning into his lane wouldnt result in me cutting him off. So now were in the far left lane with me in front and an open lane to the right. So the 300C comes flying up the right lane and tries to pass me, as a result I push the gas half throttle and keep an easy truck plus lead on him. At the next light I ask the kid if he has a V8 he said V6 and to my suprise asked if I wanted to run them. So I said sure. I have NEVER floord my truck from a dead stock before and doing so is a HUGE mistake. So instantly he gets atleast a car and a half on me off the line. My truck spins both tires (I have factory limited slip) and I sit there making noise and smoke but going no where. Finally the truck starts forward and due to the RPMs the truck shifts into 2nd. Once I get traction the truck then downshifts back into 1st and with a little more noise it goes. So now im about 2 car lengths behind. So I keep my foot into it and I start to catch up. I then catch up and put about a half a car length on him at around 100. So in the fact that I caught up to him, and passed him after basically giving him a 2 car lead was pretty awesome, and that my truck upshifted then had to redownshift in the begining too.
Anyway, Im trying to find traction bars, or just anything at all, but everywhere I look its for lifted trucks etc. I had KDW2s on my Ranger and they do rock! Just i cant afford new rims to go with tires.

but like said before you will need traction bars and learn how to drive your truck to keep things under control
and im sorry but if you have never floored your truck from a stop and didnt expect the tires to spin like they did, i would not want to drive in the state that your driving at "stupid speeds"
I found some traction bars, I plan on 285/55/18s because they are about the same diameter of a 265/60/18 and I believe they will fit on the stock 7.5" lariat rim. Or so I hope.
To be honest I expected the tires to spin, however I didnt expect the amount of spinning. I said "stupid speeds" because it was stupid. I really didnt realize how fast it was until I shut down. To that there is no excuse, I was looking at the road instead. Also, I use to have a Cobalt SS/SC which topped out ALOT higher then my truck, given that, I never felt like I didnt have control of my truck. Also, I drive this road every day, I know where side streets are and where traffic could be, plus alot of street lights make visibility good. Im not justifying what I did by any means, just trying to explain why I felt safe in my own way.
So yea, stupid in that I shoulda gave up but I was passing him and I just went with it. Other wise Ive gone faster and I feel "comfortable" on that street and the situation. I thank you for your help though.
and we do live in the same state. But I rarely speed, and I never gone WOT from a dead stop since I supercharged my truck 2 weeks ago. Oh also, on a side note, i was checkn out ur sick truck and I realized you got it from jones, which is where I got mine from. Which means if your truck had a paper that said it had an inspection on it before they sold it, I can almost guarentee I inspected it. I work at East Mesa Auto Repair and we fix all of jones cars/trucks in all of arizona, they send them all to us, we also do their point inspections. Which is why I got a truck from them because they gave me a good deal.

Well I frequent the arizona lightning owners club www.azloc.com and they recomended Lakewood traction bars. So yea they are universal, but they said it would work on my truck, plus at that price it isnt to bad.
Im currently in Mesa between southern and broadway, power and sossamen.
I just hope a 285/55/18 can fit on a stock lariat rim. Currently I have some real POS tires on 17's till i can get some meats for the 18s. Which would really help out alot on traction too being they are B rated traction 235/70/17s.
