First some background I have a 2006 F-150 5.4 supercrew FX4 11,000 miles. I thought I wanted to put a CAI on it (I had one on my 97 4.6 before) but did not know until researching that their had been problems with them running lean and you needed a programmer to go along with it. I was not planning on spending that much money at this time. However the programmer might be a better investment for my needs if I have to choose one. I also had a chip in the 97 but had to run premium gas it was a little cheaper then and can not afford to do so now.I live in NC and we now have to pass an emissions test every year to get inspections so was not planing on doing anything to the exhaust. My question is will the programmer and CAI be enough of a difference while still running regular gas to be worth the money and what mods. Thinking SCT X3 and AF1 by reading threads but what have any of you had experience with on this model and stock exhaust. And on the AF1 3" or 3 1/2" tube. Any help would be appreciated.
