Vibration @ 70mph
Vibration @ 70mph
05 f150 reg cab longbed V6. High milage 92000 and bought used so dont know complete history. Its been doing this since i've had it.
New tires, and also replaced the rims and had them rebalanced, but still the same. Low speed great but around 65-70 i get slight vibration....i'm not sure if its in the wheel or the truck...i dont feel it much in the wheel but the passenger seat you can see shaking.
Any clue where to check? wheel bearing? balljoint of some kind?
thanks!

I would check the ball joints and tierod ends. I had the same thing happen on my work truck (94 F150). It had a vibration at around 60mph, so I had the tires rebalanced and it was still there. So I then started checking ball joints and then I found it, the lower ball joint on the drivers side was shot.
If you can feel it in the seat of your pants, I'd be looking at drive train problems, drive haft or U-joints, rear tires not balanced or parking brake not releasing all the way. May even check to see if you have mud build up on the inside rim of the rear tires. That has happened to me several times with snow build up and caused vibration.

I was gonna wash it tomorrow... but I'm busy. :o
feels more in the cab than in the wheel, could this be the 'nibble' i keep reading about in threads here when doing searches?

I have an 05 Reg cab too. I have that same nibble at 65-70 mph. It was really bad at first. I put on a leveling kit and got an alignment and it seemed to fix it a little. But it does sound like the nibble everyone is talking about. I have read all over the forums about getting a road force balance.

All it does is tell you to put the tires with the least weight on the front
Fancy pos if you ask me
Yeah I have just heard people talk about it. When I got the alignment I think it helped a little. Plus when Im on the highway I usually stick to going 75-80 and it usually stops around there.
