Plus it will have the option of SINC and larger stabilizer bar for better handling. So the Escape now is a nice vehicle if you can't wait then I say go for it as long as it has warranty left but if you can then the new model will be fair superior.
Ya, I heard the new '09 will be wicked awesome... especially in the tranny dept.

My '03 was garbage... and even my local service center and Ford customer service told me it was junk because one of the reps I talked to her wife had one and it was by far the worst vehicle she's ever owned. So if a Ford rep puts their job on the line to tell me that, then it's JUNK... that it might actually be worth noting as well.

Hence my final judgement to get rid of it.

Good luck. As you will need lots of it.

Oh, as a note... once you put about 200 to 500 miles on it, the computer changes its adaptive shifts, and such. It'll ride nice at first, then it will go slow... and the shifts are incorrect, leaving you being smoked by my v6 F150. Not to mention it doesn't even have an electronic throttle body and the climate controls are not electronically operated; they are still vacuum controlled.

What else... hmm... oh yeah... it's front wheel drive based all wheel drive. And in my books... it's still front wheel drive.

Also be careful when running over bumpy roads... the suspension components tend to start clunking after 15k.

You sir, have just downgraded yourself.

Glad I got my F150... something I can bank my money that it will get me from point A to point B safely, reliably and on-time.

whatever, ill be happy savin 60 bucks a month in payment, and 50% on gas. You can say all you want from peoples accounts on escapes, but i read peoples problems with F150s everyday on here but didnt have a major one until yesterday, but nobody told me i was making a bad move. Lets hope i can get myself into a badass 2 door silvy in summer, this thing will hold me over just fine. Oh no v6 f150s will pass me! just like 4 cyl civics will pass me,if theyre doing more than the speed limit and im doin the speed limit. Who cares? **** guys, look like i made the bad move, should i not go to the drag strip tonight after i get my escape?

You will not get that gas mileage either.

It's sad too. For that little SUV it should get much better gas mileage.

I did the same mistake with my '99 F150. One problem at 100k, and I got rid of it for an Escape. Look at how I got burnt. Now I go do a CarFax and it comes back no accidents, with 187k on it... Proves to me that it's a good truck still.

I think you should just sit back, and hold on to the F150, and give it a chance. Because once you sign... that's it.

As for your problem, it's not a big problem. I have a big feeling it's the electronic throttle body... which if it is giving incorrect values or is getting stuck from a carbon build up, it will do this to your vehicle. It's something than can be corrected with a small amount of money. Trust me.

By trading vehicles, all you are doing is putting yourself in a bigger hole than you originally dug.

This time, you are being like me. I went from something that had tiny issues that could be corrected for a small amount of change... to spending a large amount of money on a vehicle that I "thought" was better, and ended up being a COMPLETE nightmare. Now look at me... I'm back where I started, but WORSE. How does that make me feel?!

Also... if I kept my '99... by now I would've had my dream truck, a nice FX4 F150 or something... but I NEEDED to get out of that Escape and I was forced to go to something I KNEW was reliable. Which I did... and I am thanking myself... in some ways. But I'm still kicking myself in the **** for getting rid of the '99 for no reason... just because of some cheap fixes. God does this make me angry.

I'm just helping you buddy.

But if you feel like it's going to solve your problems... go ahead get it... it's your life, it's your money, and it's NOT my problem.

JB,

If you were low on gas and full throttle, your truck went into "protection mode". This is to save the injectors.

Not really a big deal.

Put some gas in the damn thing.

My truck did this 3 times in 2 days about a month ago. I had exactly the same symptoms you described. I pulled over and before I even shut the truck off I ran the Diagnostics with my Edge. I want to say it pulled a p0141 code. the description was "IAC STUCK OPEN, lIMITED THROTTLE". I wrote the code down somewhere when I find it I'll let you know for sure.

It is the throttle body for sure... I know it is.

The worse case... he needs a new throttle body... $212.06 and like 20 minutes of time.

just like i NEEDED to get out of that f150. Gas was killin me, it was startin to fall apart, it was out of warranty, it was way over mileage. I was very lucky to get what i did today, a new vehicle. Lower payment, much better MPG. So easy to drive i feel i could do it with my eyes closed.

Heres a crappy cell phone pic:

Ill be in a silverado eventually, until then, this will be a nice replacement vehicle.

I had idle issues where it would die, then on restart the RPM's shot up to 5K, then back. To make a long story short i had a bad Throttle Body. At that time it was covered under warranty and the Dealer replaced it.

why did you buy a F-150, then the Escape if what you truly want is a Silverado? btw, the 9000 platform is just plain ugly. but different strokes for different folks. at least you want to buy American

I caught your threat too late. Have you ever looked at the Edge? I'm going to ditch my Mustang GT in October for the 09 Edge. 1 kid +1 coming makes the ol' GT uncool. Besides, the Edge has a 260 hp motor with AWD and 6 speed transmission...way cool to me
