Floor Shifter **** Replacement

I have a leather wraped floor shifter **** out of a 2007 Mark LT and want to install it on my 2007 Lariat. I was told they are a perfect match for one another but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get the stock plastic one off to put the leather one on?
Can any of the mod pros here that are in the know help me out...

pop the plastic top off, and there should be a screw inside

Do you mean the very tip top chrome nub top or the chrome piece you push in to change gears, because I can't get the chrome top to budge on either the LT or the F150 handle.

It is not budgeing at all on either one. I appreciate your help but I am going to the dealership to get answers before damage is done.

Pop it off with a screwdriver, it should pop off. There are 3 little pieces attaching it to the rest of the shifter. You might break the 3 connector pieces off, but it is covered under warranty, just say that it popped off. they are use to it. mine came off the other day and i get to replace it under warranty.
