Which way to level???

I have an '04 Screw 4x2, an i'm trying to decide on which way to level, lift the front or lower the back? If i raise the front i will an Auto Spring kit either 1.5" or 2", and not really sure for the rear. If anybody could steer me in the right direction for the best way to do this an it be reliable(an cheap) would be a great help. I love the looks of it both ways, but am kinda leaning towards the rear drop because of the fact that i'm married w/ 3 kids. In which i figured it would make it easier an safer for my 3yr an 6yr old to get in an out the backseat. Thanks in advance...

I'm not married and have no kids. But I would do with the lifting the front.

Lifting the front will negatively affect your gas mileage (even though everybody will shout "it's a truck, screw MPG"), and lowering the rear will negatively affect your cargo and towing capacity.

I am not a hufe fan of lowered truck, so I would say go with a 1.5" leveling kit.

Lower the back.

I have a 2wd crew and put on a 2" AS level kit, lifted it too much up front and had to do an AAL in the back. Ended up hating the look. Took them off and sold them and got 2" GF shackles. Loved the look.

Now I'm lowered 2" in front and 4.5" in back. It never ends.

Thank-you, your's is nice too!

I didn't realize they had a 5.5' bed available on a supercab, I thought it was supercrew only. Looks good though.

Stealth, nice truck btw, i noticed in your pics that you had the pinion shims installed also, did those come w/ the kit or did you have to buy them seperatly, and also if you dont mind me asking how much was that setup an what setup are you running now??? The shims came with the GF kit, I think it's #91200. I think the kit cost around 90 bucks, but it's been a while.

A quick google. I think I got mine from Summit.

After a little bit of searching, my curiousity has struck me and I have another question, why do some kits have the shims and most dont??? Are they really needed or just in certin circumstances? Some of the companies that make drop shackles also sell there shims for d@mn near the pice of the shackles...

Lowering shackles change the pinion angle. Shims are needed to keep the driveline from vibrating by correcting the pinion angle. Some of our trucks need them, some don't. Our trucks are succeptible to vibration more so than others.

Do the 2" GroundForce Shackle drop in the rear! I have had mine dropped for more than a year, and I love the results. The ride is so much more comfortable when you are sitting level.

I would have gone with the 2" AS up front, but as long as your happy, it's all good.

btw, if your truck is 4x4, just remove the rear 1-5/8" block from the rear axle. all it will cost you is the price of 2wd axle u-bolts
