alignment problem - help

I installed the 2.5" leveling kit this past weekend and now I need the alignment.

I just called down to the alignment shop and they said that they could only set the truck back to factory specs and can't adjust caster because they don't have the specs for it.

So my question is: will this help me any if they just set it back to the factory specs? I mean the factory specs will be for the truck without the AS kit or larger tires. They said that if I had the specs from the lift manufacture then they could set it to that but AS doesn't include these specs in the information they gave me with my kit.

Anyone have any input here?

Thanks

That is no good. I went to a Firestone shop that told me the same thing....I think you should call around and see what is out there. I called 6-7 places before I decided on the Goodyear across town. They did it for $80 and it only took about 45 minutes.

Correct me someone if I am wrong, but I don't think Caster is a tire-wear angle. Caster can cause the vehicle to pull to one direction or another. Toe is the big tire-wearing angle that really needs to be changed after the leveling kit is installed. When we did my alignment, the only angle that needed to be changed was the toe. Mine drove nice and straight down the road, no pulling issues. Check around a bit more and see. Maybe even check the Ford dealer in your area??

Thanks man! I actually just called around to some different shops and got a hold of a shop that does nothing but alignment and they said they could do it and would only charge $50. Can't beat that deal!!

Your pretty much right altough caster alone won't cause the vehcile to pull. Caster actually has more to do with the wheels turning. the easiest way to explain caster would be to look at a motor cycle steer wheel. the angle of the pivot slopes back toward the driver. Positive caster

Toe is whether the front of your tires point in or out. Will definatly cause tire wear(usually cupping of the tread) and or pull.

Camber is the position of the top of the tire realitive to the ground. top of the tire tilted towards the truck is negative camber, away from the truck is positive camber. You'll often see trucks slamed to the ground with excessive neagtive camber. To much of one way will cause the inner or outer part of the tread to wear faster.

I think it's better that I decided to go with a shop that does nothing but alignments instead of a do-it-all shop. I like specialized experience!!!
