Line-X

Hello all, new guy. I know linex has been discussed to DEATH. I am getting my 2006 FX4 done Friday and I asked them if they take out the rubber gromets in the bed by the the cab and they said NO as the grommets won'tgo back in correctly so they just spray over them. Is there any reason I or a service technician would need access to these holes. Thanking you all in advance.

Why cant you pull them out after it gets sprayed? I know the stuff is tough but you would be able to cut around the gromets with a good knife or new razor.

Not to be dis-respectfull but why cant they take them out prior. I don't want to spend $450 and have to cut into it. Do you know what they are there for? Should it not be a concern. Do you have a line-x? Did you cut yours?

When I had mine done, they pulled the plugs and shot the cover on the inside of the tailgate separately so it could be taken apart and retain the integrity of the Line-X. No extra cost either.

I just got mine done 3 days ago and they pulled all of the bolts out of the bed, and did all of the covers seperatly. It really looks good.

P.S. they also pilled the rubber gromets out, sprayed the bed, and put them back with no problems.

Those plugs can be sprayed over with no worries, that's how mine was done. There's no need to pull those grommets for anything, the holes they plug are where the robots on the assembly line hold the box when it's positioned on the frame.
