warning for F-150 towers ...

Today a 04 + F-150 crew cab hauling *** with a 17 foot tandom 5th wheal toy hauler tow pass's me on the highway, I'm going 70 mph in my dodge ram, the ford was fighting a lot of cross winds, and I could not help but wonder why any one would be towing at that speed with that ammount of girth behind it.

30 miles down the road, the F-150 was pulled over, with the hood up on the transmisson toasted.

I gave the two passenger's a ride into calgary, from balzac kinda funny because I have a reg cab with a 6sp and some one had to stradel the gear shift.

Any how, the owner who stayed with his rig was a younger kid in his 20's working in the oil patch.

He admited he was in a hurry to get home from edmonton, and I asked how much lbs he was towing, arround 13,000 with 2 quads he said.

Check your tow rattings.

Isn't the F150 only rated for about 10,000 lbs? And that's like for a 2WD reg. cab with the 8ft. box and 5.4 or Heavy Duty package or something like that.

Yes.

Someone was too ignorant to understand what they were doing that day.

Im sure his daddy wont mind throwing down 2 grand down for a new transmission. Its kids like that who dont pay for there own things which in turn leaves them to not respect what they have.

I am only 24 but I have paid for everything my whole life and I take much pride and respect for what I own.

Just throwing in my 02.

I'm 19 and I hear you man. I baby the crap out of my truck and would hate to see that kind of abuse. Yes the truck gets its fair share of work, but within its limits. That's why they make a superduty my friends

Forget about his transmission... They kid's lucky he didn't kill anyone! 13,000 lbs is F350 territory!

x2

It'd be news at 6pm, "Overloaded F150 kills 5, driver 16 years old, swears he didn't know better..."...

we are talking Alberta Oil here, most guys 20 and up that are willing to live the patch life make an easy 100k Every dealer here in town has pimped out rigs on the lot.... The bow tie dealer a few block from here has a 3/4 ton w/ 8" rise and fox shocks... crazy rims and 37" tires
before we rip this kid too hard.... there is a good chance he makes more money then most of us and earns it b/c we are all willing to pay so much money for gas at the pump.
no excuse for his actions.... but not everyone's dad pays their way.

not to mention he prolly didnt have the o/d off. the 4r75 should be able to handle that as long as its not hunting for gears and has the larger towing package cooler...

OK, so let's say he bought his truck himself. Hell, let's even say he paid cash for it and had a somewhat decent set up. That still doesn't let him off the hook for being overloaded and going that fast. He got off easy just toasting his tranny. It's because of idiots like this that overlegislated California put a speed limit of 55 MPH on any vehicle towing a trailer (yah, like anyone really pays attention to that).

Anyone with a fifth wheel in a half ton pickup needs to have their head examined anyways.

About a year ago there was a guy in a F150 that got a speeding ticket doing 92 mph while carrying a 32' boat! It hit the newspapers.

92 mph while carrying that big of an object?! Are you insane!
