Almost lost mirror glass
Almost lost mirror glass
Holy close call Batman!!!! I went through the automatic car wash today..been through there probably a hundred times with different vehicles. I think when it is busier that they speed up everything. Anyway...as I'm midway through..these spinning brushes go along the truck and they always end up flipping my mirrors back out (the carwash guys push them in at the start). This time one of the spinning brushes hits my passenger side mirror and knocks the glass out of it. Luckily I have the heated mirrors...since the wire was the only thing keeping the glass from dropping. It survived the trip through the rest of the wash and one of the gals who towel dries your car ended up just popping it back in place like it happens all the time. Anyone else had this happen??? The mirror seems fine and I escaped without any major scratches on my door from where the glass rubbed on it.
well, i was lazy yesterday morning and i was at my parents house and before i went out for the day, i wanted to get my truck washed. so i went up to the bp station, bought some gas and got a carwash as well. clearance was 6'10, i barelly made it, in fact the little pipe that says how tall it is, grazed the roof the whole way in the wash. anyways, there was no clearance issues at all. there was another issue though. the spining brushes on the driver side hit my mirror on the way to the front of the truck and started pulling it, and by the time i got my hand out there, it took a piece of the mirror (plastic part) off. so know theres a chunk of the bottom of my mirror missing. needless to say i was pissed. i went into bp and they said it was there problem and i shouldve folded in my mirrors. new mirror and paint at a shop will cost me $150, i will be calling corp. and sending them a bill after its all done. chances are they wont pay, but it will help with my frustration. from now on, im never going to an auto car wash.
Once this winter I had went to a very high quality auto car wash that uses 100% cloth & no brushes., cause it was well below freezing, long story short, upon wiping down the truck I had noticed surface scratches in the clear coat on the top of the hood, & right side of bed........needless to say that was 1st & last time., that my truck will ever go through a car wash........at least I was able to buff the scratches out of the clear coat when it got warmer....
