Light on floor shifter out

It was intermittent for a while, but now the lights on the floor shifter are always out....the ones that light up the P, R, N, D.

Any one else had this? Suggested fixes?

when I first bought my truck, mine were out and I drove for about a month thinking maybe ford didnt put a light in there. After so many times having to turn the cabin light on to see if I had it in drive or park I came on here and searched and found that you have to take apart the console and its a small bulb under the shifter.

Awesome, thanks man!! As soon as we start to warm up, I will take things apart to find that bulb.

Me too! I was thinking 'this thing HAS to have a light there', but in the 30-some cars I've owned, this is the first automatic transmission...so I was really wasn't too sure.

Regardless, it's an easy fix. Open your console lid, then just pop off the piece with the cupholders in it. The bulb is located at the rear of the shifter assembly, and just twists to come out. It is a pretty standard bulb for things like that. I had an extra one in my toolbox.

Good luck!

If you want to, you can replace it with an LED. I did that to mine and it looks pretty good, not as much difference as replacing the interior lights with LEDs, but I had some extra LED's so I put one in there.

I assume you had to use a resistor on that? What ohm?
