Looking at buying a 2004 STX supercab 4x4, have ??

Hello to everyone,
I'm looking at buying a 2004 F150 supercab 4x4 STX 47K miles.

Any common problems or issues I should look for besides the leaking third brake light?
What kind of fuel mileage would I be looking at?
The dealer is asking $14,000, does this seem fair?

I currently drive an older f250 diesel and am looking for something a little easier for my wife and boys to drive when they need to. The current truck has been a good one but being a crew cab long bed it takes about three blocks to turn around and the maintenace cost are getting pricey.

They all have their quirks but they are overall pretty problem free. I got 15 city and 18 highway with mine with stock wheels and tires and it has 3.55 gears. I would beat them down I paid 16 for mine with 27K and a warranty.

14k is really high for an 04 STX, you can do better. I got about the same mpg as bjp when I had an 05 STX.

I have a Reg Cab 04 STX 4x4 with 295/70/R17 Nitto Terra Grappler tires (Speedo calibrated with Superchips) and I get around 15 MPG (rural / Hwy mix)
I paid $13,000 for it in November when it had about 60,000 mi. Also it has an aftermarket exhaust, nerf bars, a brush guard and a UWS toolbox.

I got mine brand new for 18k so I think you can work them down a little bit.

Does it have the 5.4 engine and 3.73 rear end? If not I would hold out and find one that did. But, it seems like a good price and if you like it go for it.

The STX's largest engine is the 4.6L. 5.4L is available on XL, XLT, LARIAT, FX4, FX2, KING RANCH, LIMITED, AND HARLEY DAVIDSON.

I have a few in my gallery, but I cleaned it this weekend, and took some actual nice pics that I need to get posted soon! Also forgot to mention that it has ProComp Xtreme Alloy Wheels too!

That's a very sharp truck, 05Edge! I love the yellow.

I like the brush guard and would like to put one on my truck but I will not give up my recovery hooks for anything.

Thanks! And you may not be able to see them in the pic, but the hooks are still there... see below.

Awesome! I thought you had to remove the hooks to mount the guard!?!? Is this something you modified or is the guard designed that way? If it's designed that way then I need info on where you got that guard at because my truck will be getting one.

I'll have to check under there because the guard was on when I bought the truck... I've been told it looks like a Westin, but the guard has no identifying marks on it... I'll get under there and look when I get a chance (kind of wet and cold in AL today!)
