1/4" measured in truck frames
i dont understand why people think lowering a truck ruins it, it can still do pretty much anything a stock or lifted truck could do, especially with airbags you could actually haul more.....
now lifting i dont understand, the only advantage is more gorund clearance, but honestly if your using your truck as a work truck you wont need more clearance. that and you make the truck top heavy so it actually makes driving on the street(you know, the place all you lifted guys do 99% of your driving)worse and not as safe
btw justin id suggest seting up bump stops so that if you blow a line or something your tires wont rub the fender so that way you can drive it home or at least a safe place to stop

every custom builder would yell at me for sayin this, but I'm running slam bags and utilizing the built in bumpstops of the bag. the rear is fine, its the front that i worry about, turning and all.
when we talk about a truck being used as a truck, i think we all need to be on the same page. the whole advantage to a truck is the capacity of the bed. when you build a truck with no bed (see below)

you lose the truck aspect, it becomes a 2 seated vehicle. if you keep the bed, and the ability to haul crap, you keep the 'truck' aspect.
