Problem with Schefenacker TTT mirror
I have a set of OEM Schefenacker power, heated, signal TTT mirrors and I am having a problems with my passenger side one. The problem is that when I turn on the defrost switch for the mirrors the passenger side mirror lights go out completely and it's only the passenger side because the drivers side works fine. The mirror still has power because I can still move the glass. Yesterday I took my truck to the dealer to ensure that there wasn't any problems with the truck wiring which there wasn't. I've already switched out 2 mirrors and both of them did the same. I'm waiting for my third one to arrive. Has anyone had this problem.
Hey Angel, did you get this fixed? I never had any issue with mine. It sounds like some type of wiring problem...I don't understand how two mirrors have the exact same problem. Just a thought, and this is a little bit of work, but you could remove the other mirror and plug it in that side to see if it's doing the same thing.
Hey Ralph, I spent all day looking and figuring what is the difference is in the plug and realized that the mirror has two ground wires while the plug from the truck has 1. Then I sat down and realized the that drivers side works fine so I'm going to take apart both doors and compare mirrors I just received my third passenger side mirror and they all do the same because of the wiring. So I took apart the second of the three one and removed the ground wire to the signal light and decided to ground that one to the vehicle and just use the one from the truck for the heated mirror to see if it works. I'll have to wait to this weekend to do it though but ill keep you guys posted. Nuclearthreat54 Thanks for the props.

Well I figured out the problem and I fixed it. The drivers side and passenger side wiring harnesses are different when you look at the pictures below. The Passenger side mirror is missing the #2 and #9 wires that the drivers side wiring harness has and uses as ground wires for the drivers side mirror . So I moved the #9 pin on the mirror to the #8 slot so that it would use the #8 ground wire from the passenger side wiring harness for ground. I could have used either the #2 or #9 pin because both these wires merge into one ground wire anyways.

Hi Labman!
Why would he have a talk with the dealer? According to the wiring schematic, the Ford wiring harness is as it should be. I'm sure the dealership service department could care less how an aftermarket mirror is wired. It looks like the Passenger mirror was looking for a ground on the wrong pin. If anything, he should have a talk with the company that made the mirrors so they can correct their mistake??????
Perhaps I am reading something wrong????
