Quick question

Ok let me start by saying that I just read about 150 different threads on this questions and I am more confused than ever.

I just ordered the 2.5" Auto Spring leveling kit an hour or so ago. Is the 2.5" kit going to make my 06 STX 4x4 with 4.6 and 17" rims sit higher in the front than the back? Should I have gotten the 2" instead? Reason I ask is because I might still have time to have them chage it before they ship it out tomorrow.

I have read some guys say it did and others say it didn't so what gives?

Thanks

The 2.5" made my truck sit perfectly level, I ended up getting 2.75" out of the 2.5" kit. Then to get some rake back in the truck and also help with hauling heavy and towing I got some Firestone airbags, with 20psi I now I 1" of rake back.

Each truck is different, most only take a 2" kit to get them level and a 2.5" will put the nose high so guys will do either a AAL or block to get the rear back up.

I have installed many AAL's on Jeep's and they are very easy but I thought I read something earlier that to put an AAL on the F150 you have to remove the gas tank and other stuff. Is this true?

Can you install the AAL by just busting the spring packs loose and slapping the new leaf in or is there more to it?

whoever told you that is retarted. you take off the u bolts, undo the 2 center bolts on the leaf packs, install new aal, install new center bolts, and reassemble with original u bolts, takes about an hour. if you have done it on a jeep, you can do it on these fords.

Yep, I went through the same questions when I ordered the AS spacer about 2 years ago. After reading tons of threads, I decided to talk to Kevin at Autospring. He said that the front coil springs Ford uses on the assembly line come from different suppliers, but must meet a certain spec. This could be a certain stiffness, material content, or whatever...but Kevin found that nearly all 150's that they tested early on differed in the end amount of lift. Some were as much as one inch with the same model. He also found that some coilovers traveled out farther than others, again, leading to different UCA/coil contact issues for different 150's. Kevin seemed like a nice guy, but I don't know for sure about his explanations. In the end, I decided to go with a 2 inch AS on my 05 FX4 with about 1/4 inch higher front than rear. After towing a few loads around, I was tired of looking at the sky. I chose an AAL for the rear (long ones, 1.5-2.5) over the airbags and ended up with about 1.5 inches to the rear. I now set at 1.25 inches of rake. The reason you are so confused is that there is a definite difference between trucks wrt the end result. I have a few pics in my gallery with the final results. Good luck with whatever you end up with. Also, don't worry about the CV angles, just watch your ball joints.

Hey thanks guys!!
Ok sounds like the AAL install in the F150 is just as easy as all the jeeps I have done. I also prefer the long AAL to the short one.

I just went out and measured my truck and it sits exactly 3" higher in the rear than it does in the front so the 2.5" kit should work well for me but if not then I will throw in an AAL.
