ok i did a search and this is the conclusion i came up with:

If your truck does not have the Auto HVAC system, you can install the steering wheel controls to control the radio, but the temp buttons won't work. i have an 05 with the audiophile system. can you program the unused fan button to have another function?

 

how did you get the radio controls to work? I installed the lariat wheel in my 06 F 150, along with the factory 6 disc radio/cd and so far the "wheel" won't talk to the radio
