New Window Tint Questions
New Window Tint Questions
Well, after sleeping on it, I have decided to put something back on my front winows that legal. I had 15% and got a ticket if your not up to date. (Letting off steam thread, general dissucssion) So I know that the 35% is going to seem light, but it has to be better than nothing. Also I tried searching but was having a hard time about layering a tint over the factory in the rear. We have no laws about how dark the back windows can be here in MO. Other then being not able to back up at night are there any other disadvantages? Or will this make my truck look even worse, with a dark tint in the rear and a light tint up front? I'm just trying to get the inside as dark as possible while being legal now.
Also if I get my tint redone and decide to put darker tint over factory in the rear, what percentage should I get?
Thanks for listening,

Here in KY on all my other vehicles I always put 15% on front and 5% on the back, but like you said it made it a real pain to back up. I always had to roll my window down, not so much fun when it is pouring down rain. On my 06 I put 15% all around and I am alot happier with it.
I'd go with about 20% up front to match the back. any darker and the cops usually start mesing with ya, I've had 20% all around on three vehicles for 7 years and not once have I been harassed about it, here its 35% up front too. did you have anything on the back with the 15% up front? cause having windows darker than 20% really makes cops not so nice
I just had 15% up front to match the back. What the funny thing was I passed a highway patrol on my way home the afternoon before and it was a cloudy day. So my tint looked much darker than it did when I got pulled over in the bright sun.
I'm going to be going with 35% no matter what. I'm tired of being harrassed by everyone. I wish he would of just gave me a warning, I learned my lesson and I would of still taken it off. The guy was just a real jerk about it. That's okay, I can't get mad at the guy becuase I was in the wrong.
Like my dad has always told me, "You can't get even with someone your mad at. It will eventually catch up to them."

i did 35% on all four doors.... so the rear doors are 35% over the factory 20%. I did the same thing on my old explorer also. I leave the rear window just factory... to dark and its a pain at night when needing to look out the back-
Well on my truck,
My front windshield has a layer of 35%
My two front windows Have 1 layer of 5%
And all the rear windows have the factory tint, plus two layers of 5%.
When you see a cop, roll the windows down, I haven't had a problem.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I know what you mean about backing up at night. It can be very tricky.
Another question: Has anyone ever heard of putting window tint on their mirrors? I know that the new F150's come with driver side dimmed mirror, but mine is a 2004. Sometimes at night the reflection in the mirrors bothers me when driving. Just a thought.

Probably, and I don't need to be getting anymore tickets especially with this guy in my area.
I usually roll my windows down, but it was freezing cold that day. I think he just wanted to pull me over for the hell out it. Plus its the end of the month, Missouri needs to make some money.
