Tranny Temps on an 04

I was just wondering what temp my tranny should be around. Once up to operating temp, its right around 150, and 165 when its really hot out in the summer. I had the typical Tranny trouble when I first got the truck and had to have the tranny replaced. When the stealership did the work they also installed a "larger" tranny cooler. I am just a lil nervous about havin tranny trouble again b/c I am just about out of Extended warranty. I know that its not good for it to get over 180, thats why 165 makes me a little nervous. Any input would be great.

Most people don't really know about tranny temps. You can read all you want about tranny temps online, most are for cars. The transmission you have can take 250* temps, is it the best for it? Not really. Operating range is anywhere from 100-220, or an easy way to think of it is your tranny temps should be at or lower to your engine temp. Remember the trans is electronically controled, so it tries to manage shifts based on temp too. And it takes ~275* to even enter over temp per the ECU. And ~240* for the TC to enter 'hot lock/unlock' which modifies the TC control to try to cool down faster.

Mine is usually in the 150 range, the highest that I have ever seen it was around 175-180 but that was towing our small Bobcat (S185) up a hill on a 90 deg day.

150*F-160*F is normal for regular driving when not hauling or towing anything.

Mine is usually 160* with everyday driving, but if I tow anything she usually hits 190+ but has never gone over 200*

Remember, I live in South Texas and have 38's though.
