Don't think so, but I could be wrong.

I have a cat-back Magnaflow and have been to the dealer a few times under warranty for certain things and they haven't said a word.

Well, besides one of the tech's saying its a good sounding 4.6

By muffler back, are you just talking about putting on tips or a y pipe? If so, no, I can't imagine that it would affect your warrenty at all.

I have a custom made true dual that we cut off just before the Y pipe. It's dual 2.5" flowing to a 3" DIDO Magnaflow. I've yet to have a warrenty issue with it....and my truck's been in the shop plenty recently....

As best I know the dealer should leave you alone as long as you don't mess with the cats.

No!

Briefly, I've had AM cat-back exhausts on more vehicles than I care to remember. On three of those vehicles, I had a catalytic converter issue with two and a header/gasket leak with one.

Replaced and/or repaired under the warranty guidelines every time... no questions asked.

Yes and no.

Let's say you installed that muffler, and it created an exhaust drone/resonance. That wouldn't be covered under warranty.

Then let's say you installed that muffler, and your driver's window quit working. That'd be covered under warranty.

Remember, for the warranty to be denied, the modifications had to cause whatever the failure is.

Or if you had your exhaust system welded on and i was working on your truck and had to remove it for any reason to perform warranty work...expect to find your exhaust cut off in the back of your truck.

If it were my truck you were working on, you sure as hell had better call first before hacking off my exhaust. If you didn't, I'd find a way to get every pennies worth of my exhaust, and then some, in retribution.

While I personally won't hack someone's exhaust off indiscriminately, if it is in my way and I'm having to do a repair under warranty (say, removing the transmission for whatever reason), I will be contacting the customer and telling them either they can have it removed, or I will remove it. And I won't be particularly gentle about it either if I end up having to remove the exhaust.

it won't void the entire warranty.

For example, a cat-back has no bearing on your tie rods or wiper motor.

Ford won't cover any damage caused by the part. So if the reduced back pressure mucks up your valves, they won't cover it. Or if the freeflow causes the cat to clog up, they won't cover it.

Thats a better way to go about it. Yeah, I wouldn't be too happy about having that extra work to do, but you just don't go cutting away at someone's vehicle without their permission.
