Bumper Swap?

Sorry guys if this has been covered like 100 times.. I was searching tonight and could night find a definite answer..

I have an 06 w/o fog lights. An 06 comes with the round ones. I do not like the round ones and would like to put a new bumper on that has the rectangle fog light holes.

If i get the bumper, brackets, hardware, lights, etc.. Can the 04-05 bumper bolt up on an 06??

Not to concerned about the wiring aspect, that is easy.. Just wondering if i should go for the rectangle ones i like and hope it works over the round ones i know will work..

Poll: Either way- Painted bumper or chrome?? Currently have chrome on front and rear, and the truck is black.

Thanks

Someone might need to correct me, but if you have an 06, and want the rectangle with fog lights 04-05 bumper, you will need the 04-05 bumper brackets as well. So you will need a 04-05 bumper, and 04-05 brackets.

guess who's got a bumper that has squares fogs and not using it anymore... This guy. I can take photos of the bumper since it's sitting in the back yard so you can see if the square fog bumpers will work for you. It's dark and freezing outside right now so I'll do it tomorrow.

When we order a Frame from Ford for a 04-05 it requires that you replace the rear bumper and brackets but it never says anything about the front bumper.

Ford changed their frame manufacturer in 06 and they were not able to make the 04-05 Frame.

If the Front bumper (04-05)would not fit to a 06 frame then it would be in the list of parts that are required to be changed.

Here is the Ford TSB 06-10-9

Here is the answer from a prior post

Dude I have the complete brackets, including the lights, without bulbs for the swap you are wanting. I hit a dog with my '05, and caught an awesome deal upgrading to an '07 front bumper...And to the others wondering about the bumper swap. 2 other brackets are needed for the swap, from '05 to '06-'07. they mount somewhere near the grille. I had my local ford bodyshop do the swap. Hit me up with an e-mail if you didnt get your stuff from impact9...All you will need is the bumper and the lower valance. i have the rest..Pete

It is a complete swap, and the body lines match perfectly. all my '05 brackets would not work with the '07 bumper. plus 2 extra brackets that my bodyman had to rob from an '07 just off the delivery truck. All the bolt holes are the same, including the 2 new brackets that are needed. no drilling was required. And the light sockets Will work from the square to the round lights. I have the Silverstar fog lights, and didnt want to lose them for a new pair, the wiring harness and all fit perfect, no modifications. it took the ford bodyshop 2 days to complete, but that was factory paint and install.

There's one bumper plate and two bumper brackets per side of the bumper.
