okay, now that it is official and the 09 f150 is out with the auto in the floor and pistol grip type shifter ala the expy, do you think we can retrofit the new shifter into the 04-08 models? how about it quintin? or anybody in the know?

with a dremal and a little imagination anything is possible. as long as the shifter electronics all line up correctly you should be good to go

 

Since the truck has not made it to dealer lots yet no one is going to know except maybe Dearborn Derek. I have a feeling that yes you could mod the new style shifter into our trucks, but it probably wont be a direct bolt in. In order to get a good answer to your question you will probably have to wait until 1-2 months after dealers have been selling the new trucks, that way more people will have seen the new set-up and had a chance to play around with it.

 

i doubt it would work. 04-08 have 4 speed tranys and the new 09 have a 6 speed. it has d 3 2 1. and the 04-08 has d 2 1. just my thoghts!!!

 

why would you want to?

Why not just put in a floor shifter from a Lariat?

 

i have the shifter from the Lariat...my truck is a lariat...just like the pistol grip type shifter much better....take a look at the 07-08 expedition floor shifter and you'll see what i mean...it seems sturdier and more solid.....

 

If someone will find the part number I will try it. I love the expedition shifter. My lariat shifter has a very cheap feeling to it.

 

sounds like you guys are saying the expy shifter won't work. why?

 

i have plans to make one fit... it will be a little while though before this happens. Off with the LT handle on to the 09 Handle... lol

 

please keep me posted on this ! i love the expy shifter...like nonney said, it feels cheap. the wood handle pistol grip looks better and should be able to get it to work, my gosh, it's only a shifter handle
