if you do this, don't forget to put a section of 2x8 under the jack before you jack it up... otherwise it might sink into the grass and cause you trouble

(those that get it... anybody have a link to that thread? it was hilarious)

Trucks aren't the only thing that have drive shafts, hence the warning decal.

We use to do that to everyone's trucks in high school. All of us knew what it was though. The best one was when we duct taped a tennis ball to the backside of someone's tire on this lifted S10. Everyone backed in their trucks at school so it was pretty easy. But I can tell you what when he started to roll, he knew something was up but he kept driving. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life. He got pretty far down the road before all of the duct tape let loose and flew off to the side of the road.

its not a drive shaft warning label. It is a PTO (Power Take-Off) warning label.

For those that don't know, a PTO is used to power implements on the back of tractors so this shaft is hanging out in the air. The warning label is telling the operator to shut off the power to the PTO before going back there to adjust anything. This is actually a huge danger and lots of farmers are injured every year.

Here are some sites about this...

Here is a video demonstration of a dummy getting wrapped up in the PTO...

They are used on drive shafts between pto bearing hubs and electric motors to drive gear boxes used on downstream extrusion equipment, ie pvc pipe manufacturing plants. The exact decal was on the protective cover of each drive shaft I installed on every puller I built.

Used to work here, built every type of machine. http://www.jdpmfg.com/
