Has anyone had their fuel pump replaced? I just got back from the dealership and they said my fuel pump needed to be replaced. It is still under warrenty, so no problem there. Just wondering if this is a common problem?

 

My fuel pump is being replaced tommarow. What lead up to this with your truck. Mine died while driving wouldnt restart, got towed to dealer they said it threw two codes for fuel pump, but is starting now. Just going to have them replace it. Hope it works.

 

When you mostly drove the truck, did you ever let it stay running down around the E mark on the gas gauge?

 

I would very rarely let the gas tank run down that low.

 

a lot of people say you should let it get to E a couple times to make sure watever builds up leaves easily. other people say you shouldnt.

 

Yeah... I let mine run down to the bottom when before I change the fuel filter. This way any crud that goes into the fuel filter won't be in there for long.

However, since the fuel pump uses the fuel itself to keep the motor cool, it is recommended not to let it go down like that for a long time, or multiple times a week.
