Tech Question?

I had ordered a Fuel Filter for my 2007 5.4 3v Screw from DirectFordParts.com , & the MotorCraft fuel Filter they had sent me was Motorcraft Part#FG-1083...I looked in the back of my owners Manual & it lists Fuel Filter MotorCraft part # FG-986-B. I contacted DirectFordParts & they told me that the info in my owners manual is old & that the FG-986-Filter was used up to 12/05/05. Any 5.4 3v after that date uses the FG-1083.......Can anybody shed some light on this, I do not want to install the wrong fuel filter?
Thanks.........

The 1083 is used on 2003 and newer Navigators and Expeditions. You're correct, your truck takes a 986B.

Whoops, I screwed up. Apparently, 2007s do use FG1083s.

speaking of fuel filters I went to Autozone last night for some other items and picked up a fuel filter but all they had was an off brand Lube Finer. I had second thoughts but buoght it anyway. Has anyone heard of this company, the bottom of the box has Champion Laboratories on it?

Sorry to bring up and old thread, but I thought I would add my $0.02 to this one.

I purchased a new fuel filter for my 2007 F-150 KR 4X4 tonight from my "trusty" local Ford dealer. They gave me the FG-986B. It does NOT fit. The filter itself is very similar in size and shape but the male connections on the filter are different sizes.

Just thought I would make others aware so they don't end up in the same predicament I am currently in......
