My truck makes a ticking sound too. It's just the fuel injectors. It's normal!

The cam phaser "knock" does not go up and down with RPM, it is only there during idle when the truck is warmed up.

The best way I can think to describe the cam phase "knock/tick" is that it sounds like a rubber mallet hitting the engine.

I hear a knocking/ticking at idle when the truck is from a cold start or if it is warmed up. Someone told be on another post that it may be my cam phasers. It sounds like a diesel at idle.

I just picked up an '05 Screw 2wd with 95K on it and mine sounds like a diesel when it's idling.....you can't hear it in the cab but if you stick your head under the hood it's definitely apparent...Plus my Check engine light is on....I hope this motor isn't a pile cause this is my first "new" pickup and need it to last!!!

UPDATE: my truck has been at the dealership since Jan 7, they had a Ford engineer out to give the a truck a look see, engineer seems to think it's a cylinder head problem, he the "engineer" got a hold of the zone rep and there are going put new set of heads on my truck.heads were ordered today and shoud arrive by next thursday. I hope this does the trick
