What oil filter are you using? Some folks on here hear this rattle when not using the Motorcraft oil filter. Something to check...

Whens the last time you changed your oil I know it sounds dumb but I had that same problem. I brought it to the dealer and they said that it was the cam phasers and that the oil need to be changed badly so they changed the oil and wala no more rattle it only does it when its cold right? I didnt believe it at first when they told me but it no longer makes the noise so I guess it wasnt B.S.

Mine recently started doing it also. I use the Motorcraft oil and filter. It is really annoying and I hope it isn't causing any problems. Funny how my truck just ran out of warranty and this started happening. I am hoping maybe I just got a faulty oil filter this time. Is there an easy way to tell if the oil filter anti drain back valve is bad.
