I fail to see where he was making any claim like that. He was just happy with the mileage he got on the trip. I have kept a record of all fill ups since I got my truck, over 61,000 miles, and what you say about the varibles is definitely true. But, I can say that inspite of the variables, my mileage on a trip does not vary greatly. It ranges from 18.8 to 19.2 most of the time.

welp theres the point of my posting! i drove this trip just like any other trip i do or anydifferent then the way i drive it locally. im not a lead foot one time then granny next. in my opinion the only way this number should change for me will be when i have my 3500lb boat behind me im sure that will change it. and yes i asked for opinions but didnt want to upset anyone. i dont drive my p.o.v. very much i drive 3500 4000 miles a week in a big truck last thing i want to do is drive when i get home but when i do i like to try to keep up with what my truck is or isnt getting or doing.

If that's the mileage your getting doing normal, everyday driving then those are pretty good numbers considering the vehicle. I just hope your MPG includes the calculations that factor in the fuel used to drive back UP the hill you coasted down to get to your destination.

im just glad i dont foot the fuel bill for my big truck at 4.9-5.3 mpg's could you imagine $900.00 fill up daily? shwoaw not me! i dont drive enough miles on my pov to even care what i get i just thought that since i took a trip round trip then i would get accurate numbers on the trip not the truck... i dont really care what milage i get gas could be 10.00 gallon i personally wouldnt give a hoot less what fuel i get in my pov. my old broncho stood 10'3" tall and got 4 mpgs out of a 5.0 but that was when gas was 1.19 gallon big difference. i didnt declare that these were actual numbers for the truck just actual numbers for this trip(i should of title the post better) ... i do hope i get that good of fuel economy all the time but i dont know since this was my first filll up in 2 mnths. i would hope that this is the milage ill get when i have my big bass boat behind me but i doubt it!

What speed was this mpg obtained on the highway at? I typically cruise at 80-82 and that nets me somewhere in the 17's or 16's most of the time. Depending on wind I've gotten 15 before.

Very close to what I get when I drive the speed limit for about 800 miles to the Virginia coast and back. Under ideal conditions I can get 20 and with less than ideal, I might get 18. Check it everytime I go see my daughter and her family.
