Expedition six speed tranny?!?

Just curious, has any done or know if it would be possible to run the expedition six speed tranny on the F150. I know the expedition has a 5.4L with the six speed, so i wonder if it could be compatible?

For all you ford mechanically inclined gurus, please chime in. Very curious to see if this has been done or if even possible.

If this can be done, I'm very much interested as well.

I would bet the transmission would bolt right in but the computer won't be compatable. If you switched to a Expedition computer, it might let the transmission work but wouldn't be compatable with the rest of the truck.

If it can be done this would probably be the best mod that you could do performance wise short of a supercharger. The Expedition with this combo beats the Suburban with the 6.0 powerplant in pulling and speed like it's cake.

If you can get a 6 speed tranny and a TP tuner with a Roush charger... you will have one sick NBS truck... talk about G-Forces... wheeww... and 0-60 mph trap speeds... I bet you could smoke a lot of cars out there, let alone trucks...

From what i know it looks like you could do the 5 speed for 2004-2006. And the 6 speed for 2007-2008 as the pcms are different.

I was under the impression that the 6 speed wouldn't fit under the floorpan of the '04-'08 F150. I could be wrong though...

All you need is a bigger hammer.

As a general statement, there are enough differences in the computer to make it a difficult swap.

Can you elaborate about the 5 speed in 04-06?

I realize that the six speed offers up advantages with performance and fuel economy, but with the four speed being pretty reliable, able to tow a dump load ( For a half ton truck ) and responding well when big bhp gains are introduced ( Supercharger ) I'm pretty happy with what our 4 speed does. I bought a truck, I knew fuel economy wouldn't be that great, and I'll ride my motorcycle when I want some serious speed.

The 6 speed would tow, haul, accelerate better and maintain fuel economy at the same time. Image your 4speed with stock tires and 4.10s, but having the the same hwy mpg as a 3.55 geared truck. It allows the 3.73 equipped 5.4 expedition to out tow the 4.10 equipped 6.0 surburban according to the reviews I have read on the expy.

hmmm, are you sure. I recall reading an comparo where the 5,4L outpulled a new suburban with a 5.3L but Ive never seen it vs the 6.0L. Keep in mind that was quite the acheivment as every test I've read w/new GM twins vs F-150 the 5.3L has out pulled/is quiker that an empty or loaded 5.4L and this happens with 3.73s, never mind available 4.10's (on the GMs) so for the Expy to out pull empty or loaded a Suburban with 4.10's it tells you the 6 speed helps out quite a bit!!!
