Pop sound while turning(somethings loose?)
Pop sound while turning(somethings loose?)
Well. I'm back with the same problem. Hopefully someone can help pin point the area. My Rancho lift was installed several months back. No problems. However, before the lift was placed, I had a leveling kit and adjustment cams which replaced the factory lower control arm bolts. When the shop did the lift, since they did not have the original lower control arm bolts ,they used the adjustment cams to hold the cradle in place. About a month ago I found the original bolts and took them along to Les Schwab to remove the cams and install the factory bolts and also do an alignment. Something happened along the way to where now, every time I turn, mainly towards the left, I hear a pop, squeak, like a binding sound(something is loose). When I first found the problem it turned out the lower control arms were not tightened properly after alignment and they were clunking back and forth. It ocurred even when braking. I took it back to them to re-align and for the first hundred miles it did great. Now, again it is clunking. I also notice that if I bump the sidewalk while parking, i will hear a clunk as well. I have ordered polyurethane kit to replace the oem rubber parts, and I will have someone look at it and re-tighten the lift to specs, but was wondering if anyone knew what the most likely cause could be so that I mention something to the mechanic??Thanks.:o
might be something with the sway bar.

actually that's not the right thread. Search the forums for sway bar noise and browse through those threads. If I find the one I remember I'll post it.

It just sounds to me like they aren't tightening the cam bolts enough.....tell them to crank those suckers down.
Also, maybe make an index mark with some paint or permanent marker on your cam bolt heads/sub-frame so you can tell if the bolts are shifting.

Thanks. That thread gave me goo ideas to look at. I was searching under clunk, pop sound. You seemed to use the magic search word. Thanks for the help.
