Lockers
Lockers
Does anyone on here have a locker on their truck? Me and pat have been looking at them and I wanted someone to fully explain how one works for me. What is the benefit to having an e-locker? Is anyone else looking at getting one for their truck?
I have a Detroit locker in the rear 9.75" in my F150. It came with the factory limited slip, which became worthless in short order. It would not limit slip at all even with both tires on solid ground. Rather than deal with the crappy lifespan of a replacement factory LS diff, I went with the Detroit. It locks both axles/wheels together and distributes the force to both tires equally. It unlocks when turning a corner allowing the outside tire to turn faster than the inside one. This helps prevent tire spin when turning. You will still get some tire spin when on low traction turns though. ARB may or may not have an air locker for the F150. Their web site doesn't list one, and in an email to me they said they don't have one, but I've heard that they are out there? Other than those manufacturers, I'm not aware of any other Lockers for the 9.75 diff. There are no E-lockers, there are however several limited slips. Detroit tru trac, Auburn, and the factory LS come to mind.
