Nav System Question?

I read that the factory Nav system is "DVD based." Does that mean it will also play DVD movies up there as well? That certainly would not be its primary function, but would be a neat option if avaialble.
Thanks,
Ken

DVD based means that the navigation maps/info are stored on a DVD - therefor making it easily upgraded to the latest POI, Maps, etc..

That being said, it would physically be capable of playing DVDs (as in the drive/laser), but there is propbably no software functionality - this is the case with my mother's Lexus w/factory NAV.

Well, that sucks. I wonder if they do that to keep people from watching movies while driving?
Anyway, thanks for the info.

In many states it's illegal to have a screen in view of the driver unless its sole function is for navigation/vehicle systems information.

I have a few friends in GA who got pulled over for having a movie playing on their aftermarket NAV screens while the vehicle was in motion - if I recall correctly it wasn't a cheap ticket either!
