Water leaking into fuse box
Water leaking into fuse box
Has anyone had water leak into their fuse box? Last night my truck started going crazy having the radio turn on and off with the click of the turn signal, the dome light flickering on and off and all sorts of crazy stuff happening...took it to the dealer today, they showed me where water was traveling down the conduit through the firewall and soaking my fusebox and filling my rocker panel with water...is this something that has happened to anyone else? the new fuse box is 300 bucks and about 300 for labor to fix all this sh*t, but I am happy that the corroded fuse box didnt decide to torch my truck last night.
Water in Fuse Box
I encountered a similar issue of water in the fuse box. I made the mistake of taking my truck through one of those gas station "brushless" car washes that uses high pressure spray. The next several days I had the inside lights, stereo, and DVD intermittently turning on (when my key was not even in the ignition) and draining my battery.
I was trying to figure out the path that the water took, but by your post it sounds like water can get into the main wire conduit from under the hood.
Did the dealership provide a fix to prevent the water travel in the future, or did they just replace your wet parts with new ones?

Yeah, theyre sealing the conduit and replacing the fuse box. They also checked the windshield as per the TSB and it was not leaking. The thing that pisses me off is I had it at a different dealer under warranty for my backup lights staying on and they told me it was because the switch in the tranny was bad, and they told me that the water in the rockers from leaking floormats and reccomended that I bought their 300$ floormats... Its in the warranty record so I am hoping that it is covered because it wasnt fixed under warranty. The other dealer had no idea about the TSB but the new one knew the problem immediately
