Ford just called with bad news

I was having some routine stuff done at the dealership this morning. Oil and tire roatation, and they called me up to let me know that both of the inner tie rods ends are shot.

Luckily for me they are replacing them under my no deductble warranty. Is this an effect of my level kit? They never said anything about my lift when I was on the phone. The truck only has 40,000 miles, with 20,000 on the level. Maybe they will be able to explain some things when I go to pick it up.

That is odd... I'll have to keep a eye on mine when it gets up in age.

I picked up the truck this afternoon, and it goes back in the shop on Thursday for the new ends and the allignment.

I just had my truck in the shop for a weird noise when braking about a month ago. I had them check my entire suspension since it had been one year since the level install. They said everything was doing well, and the tires were wearing great. They installed the level on the truck, so they have knew all about the problems that could arrise.

I guess they must of missed the tie rod ends. Oh well, I'm just lucky that I have an awesome dealer that is willing to work with me.

I'll let you know if I can tell any significant improvement when the new ends are installed on Thursday.

UPDATE: Well I took my truck in this morning for the tie rod ends, and I was misinformed originally. The service advisor told me it was the inner ends, but they replaced the outer ends. Had the truck done in just a few hours. Can't tell if it drives any smoother becuase we had some nasty weather here this afternoon, so I couldn't get it up to highway speeds on the way home.

Which dealership is this? It sounds like they really take care of their customers and have great service. I would buy a car from them.

It's a dealership close to where I live. They have an awesome service department, and their service is the reason we buy all of our vehicles there. They wait on my mom hand and foot when she wants something done. It also helps that we have bought 8 vehicles from them since 1995.

So is this a result of the leveling kit? Because I'm this >< close to ordering mine, but I don't to deal with any problems.

Im not expert, but from a pure statistical point of view its not likely you will have problems from a leveling kit.....thousands of F-150's have the leveling kits while the tie rod problems are a fraction of that number....I would just keep a close eye on the rods and perform standard maintenance and you SHOULD be fine just like everyone else
